Poverty

You never wanted
to steal what others have,
You never wanted
to lie to those you love,
You never wanted
to deceive those innocent faces.

But you have to

  1. I am provoked by these words. They are personal to you, but as one who lives in poverty, I do not steal and I do not degenerate into immorality. I abhore those who do. In my neighborhood, people have no conscience, no desire to rise above, and they enjoy the challenge of theft. THe newspapers prove me right.
